Recently I'm really into Trainspotting.
Although it is old film, 1996, it still stirs my emotion.
Actually, I was captured by the film from the very sentences in thebeginning.
"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career.
Choose a family, Choose a fucking big television.
Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tinopeners.
Choose good health ...Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing youlast
in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish,
fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future.
Choose life.
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons?
There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got heroin?"
Trainspotting reflected that people under subculture were living in theirown
ways. Although it looked terrible, taking drugs, complex sexualrelationship,
robbing people for money to get more drugs, and so on, they got thoughts!
As they said, they are not fu*king stupid, they just merely hate the
society. For example, Renton's view about Scottish showed that people
like Renton felt they were the worst in the world because they didn't
have anything can be proud of.
These young men were anger and felt confused but they could do
nothing that might change the major values of the society.
Consequently, they were expelled themselves from the society and
began their seemly ridiculous lives.
Ironically, Renton chose his life in the end. He chose to live with
a popular values, choosing his life, job, and future.
This mocks the young people in the 60s, who urged fighting
capitalism assholes but became the middle class in the end.
Besides, many scenes are surreal in this film, such as Renton
dived into a dirty toilet. Also, this music is also cool and matched
the emotion that the atmosphere that the film wanted to convey.
If you haven't seen this movie, I strongly recommend you to see
it. It is worth to spend around 2 hours to enjoy this meaningful
movie.
